The Western Wildlife Corridor team has been hard at work this summer on the Kirby Nature Center, future home for us, our events and activities.

Wow, where to begin?

imageMost of the interior renovation is complete. We still need bathroom final work but the gutting, drywall, electrical installation, drywall painting and some of the tile work is completed.

-Tile is being installed in both ADA bathrooms and a kitchen slate floor will be laid.

–  A new roof will soon be done.

image-The exterior footers for the ADA ramp and front porch are poured.

– Kitchen cabinets should be here in two weeks for installation.

-Scraped Burch flooring will be installed after roof repair is complete. The back museum room and office will have floors sanded, and varnished soon. Doors should be hung as well.

-The chimney will be renovated with tuck pointing and new insert.

-A wildflower prairie is planned thanks to the generosity of Oxbow Inc.

-A nature Playscape is planned

-We will have native nut and fruit trees as well as a walnut grove picnic area

-Local Girl Scouts presented us with plans to build a wildlife observation area for viewing wild birds, insects and other local flora and fauna from a picture window. They have many bird feeders and will plant native trees, shrubs and plants and create a rain garden as well.

We wish to express our greatest gratitude to all our outstanding and generous workers who made this happen
