New Sisson Nature Preserve!
It is official!!! The new 19-acre Sisson Nature Preserve has been established. A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the incredible supporters, members, and partners who made the preservation of these woods possible. We couldn’t have achieved this without you!
The Sisson Nature Preserve safeguards a rich diversity of plant and animal species, along with a majestic hardwood forest that could have otherwise been developed. Nestled next to the Buckeye Trace Preserve, in Sayler Park, near the intersection of Hillside and Monitor Avenues. it plays a crucial role in connecting the wildlife corridor.
This year alone, we have made remarkable strides by adding 34 acres of forest to the corridor. The Rapid Run and Delshire Nature Preserves both grew in size, the Muddy Creek and Sisson Nature Preserves were established, and we secured vital land for a future Riverside Nature Preserve.
And we’re not done yet! The Ohio Public Works Commission just awarded us a Clean Ohio Grant to purchase 4 acres of forest adjoining the Sisson Nature Preserve next spring! As the corridor expands, neighboring landowners are eager to learn how they too can protect their woods.
